Symbian Signed: we are live again!

The transfer has been made; we are now running the new system! Please find below some more information about the changes which have happened!

What has changed?
1. The user interface has changed quite a bit. Our hope is that the changes are for the best.

2. For anyone submitting to Express Signed or Certified Signed and using more than 10 IMEIs with Development Certificates the account needs to be Verified.
-The verification happens by submitting a SIS file which has been signed with your Publisher ID to the portal (look for the "Verify Account" link at the top of the page, through the link you can also download a SIS to use with the verification)
-The portal will check that your Publisher ID is valid
-The portal will write the company name from the Publisher ID to your account's company information
-You can only use the same Publisher ID for one account.
-If problems, remember to check that you have selected the right Country at "My Profile"

3. The Development Certificates are now tied to IMEIs and UIDs defined in your account. The need to define the capabilities has been removed totally. Now the capability access depends on your account type:
-Unverified account can access: LocalServices, ReadUserData, WriteUserData, NetworkServices, UserEnvironment, Location, SwEvent, ProtServ, TrustedUI, PowerMgmt, SurroundingsDD, ReadDeviceData and WriteDeviceData
-Verified account can access the same ones as unverified and CommDD, DiskAdmin, MultimediaDD and NetworkControl
-Both accounts can either submit the SIS file to be signed or download the key and cer for local signing.

4. Submissions to Certified Signed and Express Signed are tied to:
-The Publisher ID you used to verify your account
-The UIDs your account has registered
-We have built a list of "white labeled" UIDs so you can use Smart Installer and other interesting common components with your applications.

5. Your UIDs
-Your UIDs will be brought from the previous system to the new side
-There is one limitation: if you had identified IMEIs with specific notes, those notes will not be transferred in the first phase. We are working on to get them transferred later on.

6. Existing privileges and channel access
-Your existing capability privileges and manufacturer channel accesses are transferred to the new site and should be accessible immediately after verifying your account with a valid publisher ID.

Here's a bit more detailed information about the Symbian Signed renewal. If you have questions or concerns regarding this, please ask those at the discussion board. You can find a link to a dedicated thread at the end of this e-mail.

- The user interface is totally different from the old and much easier to use
- One account / Publisher ID, we recommend merging multiple accounts to one
- No need for a separate tools on your PC
- IMEIs and UIDs need to be defined in your Symbian Signed account in order to get Development Certificates and submit applications.
- To submit applications via Certified or Express Signed, the account needs first to be verified with a valid Publisher ID

We will use the 21st of June 2011 to transfer over to the new system. This means Symbian Signed will be closed during the 21st of June.

Hello,

The time has come to renew the Symbian Signed service from down to top. The web service has been totally rewritten and the design of the UI has been improved to make it easier for you to manage your content in Symbian Signed. The current estimate for the new service to be launched is in June 2011.

Here are the main changes:

- Whole new UI to make it easier for you to manage your applications, UIDs, devices and development certificates
- Account verification based on Publisher ID. One account per Publisher ID. This brings everything under the same umbrella and it's easier for you to find all your content
- No more need to install separate tool to your PC or use your Publisher ID with the development certificate creation. Just download your cer and key pair from the portal and you're good to go.

Dear Symbian Signed service user,

The Symbian Signed signing services are to be migrated and taken up by Nokia Corporation. Symbian Foundation will transition from a non-profit organization to a licensing entity, which
means there will be changes in the terms and conditions of the Symbian Signed service.

In the context of this transition and providing the signing services by Nokia, new service terms and privacy policy shall apply to your use of the Symbian Signed services. To continue your
use of the services, you need to accept the new terms by 28th of February 2011. You can do this by logging into your account at Symbian Signed web site, and accepting the new service terms
and privacy policy. If you do not accept the new terms by 28th of February 2011 you will not be able to use the Symbian Signed service.

As a result of accepting the new service terms and privacy policy, Symbian Foundation will send personal data to Nokia Corporation.

This concerns your registration data (such as first name, last name and country of residence), and data which you have submitted to Symbian Signed in connection with your application (such
as specifications, certificates, UIDs and any information associated with UIDs). The data is transferred so that Nokia Corporation can provide you with the Symbian Signed services. If you
make any changes to such data, the changes will be visible also in the context of the Symbian Signed services. Your data and settings will be processed by Nokia Corporation in future.

To continue your use of Symbian Signed services, please accept the terms and the transfer of the data prior to 28th of February, 2011.

If you do not indicate anything prior to this date, we will consider you not applicable for migration and you will not be able to continue to use the Symbian Signed services.
